See How We've Helped Others Get Back in Action

“This is a big shout out and THANK YOU to Joe and Carrie at Aura Wellness Experience for the amazing physical therapy services they provide. Their expertise and care have changed my world.

Within 6 weeks of working with Joe, I was back on the trails with ZERO hip and knee pain (a feat I didn't believe possible without serious intervention). I can now easily run 4-5 miles without discomfort and I'm able to run with my son again. I've continued working with Joe so I can remain injury free and learn how to train better for long-term health. I learn something new at every appointment!

I can't recommend Joe and Aura Wellness Experience enough, whether you have specific aches and pains or are just curious to learn more about how your body uniquely functions and what you can do to keep it moving optimally.”

“Carrie is absolutely an amazingly skilled PT - she listens, fully assesses, and knows how to work on functional rehabilitation for injuries!  Couldn’t be more grateful!”

“Carrie accomplishes more in a single session than other practices have been able to do in months of weekly visits. Carrie takes a whole-body approach to healing and tailors the treatments to achieve maximum results. My back pain has healed from intense pain disrupting the start of each day to back to normal life. She's now working with my daughter to heal knee pain from sports and helping her strengthen to prevent further injury. Carrie takes the time listen and understand to be able to unravel the causes of pain to maximize healing.”

“My primary care physician recommended this practice. I’ve been working with Joe for 2 1/2 months now with amazing results. I found Joe extremely , talented and knowledgeable, and excellent at showing the movements. None of the movements are very strenuous.”

“I came to Carrie weak and injured after being depleted from cancer/chemo. She took a “whole body” approach to identify and treat multiple dysfunctions, then methodically worked to bring me to full strength. I’m back to running, lifting, and life! I wholeheartedly recommend Carrie and
Aura Wellness & PT to get you back on your feet no matter what life deals you.”

FAQs

What happens during my first visit?

Your first visit includes completing paperwork, providing your insurance card and referral (if needed), and a comprehensive evaluation with your therapist. We'll discuss your medical history, current problems, and goals, then perform physical tests to assess your condition and create a personalized treatment plan.

Do I need a referral, and what insurance do you accept?

Virginia allows direct access to physical therapy, so you don't always need a referral. We accept most major insurance plans and will verify your benefits before treatment. We're also providers for Workers' Compensation and auto insurance cases.

How long are sessions and how many visits will I need?

Treatment sessions typically last 30-60 minutes. The number of visits varies greatly depending on your condition and goals - some patients need just a few visits while others require several months of care. We'll reassess monthly and provide progress reports.

What should I wear and bring to appointments?

Wear loose-fitting clothing that exposes the area being treated (shorts for knee problems, tank top for shoulders, etc.). Bring your referral, insurance card, and any relevant case information for Workers' Comp or auto insurance claims.

Will physical therapy be painful

While some techniques may cause mild discomfort, especially when recovering range of motion after surgery, treatment should never be unbearably painful. We'll work within your comfort level and use various pain relief techniques. Communication about your pain levels helps us adjust your treatment.

Who will treat me and what types of treatments will I receive?

You'll work with the same licensed physical therapist throughout your care to ensure continuity. Treatments may include hands-on techniques, therapeutic exercises, manual therapy, and modalities like ultrasound, electrical stimulation, heat, or cold therapy - all customized to your specific needs.

Still have questions?

We're here to help you understand your options and feel confident about your care.
